James Cameron (卡梅隆) is one of the most famous directors in the world of cinema, though he looks more like a truck driver.Cameron was born to a middle-class family in Orlando,Canada,in the 1950s,the son of an electrical engineer. The family moved to California when he was in high school.
Little did anyone know that Cameron was surprisingly interested in science fiction and dreamed of making his own fantasy (魔幻) movies one day.Gradually,he was confused between reality and dream.Later,he gave up his studies and finally dropped out of school. After returning home,Cameron worked as a mechanic (機械工) and a truck driver, but he never forgot his movie dreams.Movies almost became his' whole life. His wife didn't understand him,and thought he was crazy,so she finally left him.
He lost his wife and finally his job.Because of his obsession (癡迷) with movies,Cameron had almost nothing, but he didn't care because movies were all he had.A few years later,he made a 10-minute science fiction short with his own money and homemade models. It was this short film that really opened the door for him,and his talent was recognized by a Hollywood producer who hired (雇傭) him to the company.Cameron was happy and worked his way up from special effect (效果) design to directing.Just when he was full of ambition (抱負) and ready to show his talents,he was hit in the head. When he was 25,he went to Italy to direct his first film, but when it was finished,he was refused for the final cut by the producers, because they thought he was an unknown newcomer. So he left them with anger.
