China's teen diving sensation (轟動性人物)Quan Hongchan's family and neighbours have been disturbed by tourists hoping to get social media "likes",local media say.Ever since the 14-year-old won the Olympic gold after delivering three perfect-10 dives, fans have rushed to her Maihe village home to take videos and photos. Some persistent fans are even climbing trees for a better view.
Quan has received massive support online after she said she took up diving to pay her sick mother's bills. Her story touched many people when she told reporters that she dedicated her Olympic win to her mother, who has been admitted to hospital many times after getting into a traffic accident years ago. "If people are going to her house just to get followers, that's unacceptable. Her mother is sick. She shouldn't be disturbed," one Weibo comment read.
The village has now been closed to visitors as the large crowds didn't follow Covid control measures, reports say.Due to her years of training, the farmer's daughter said she had never been to a zoo or amusement park. Her comments made a safari and amusement park in Guangzhou decide to announce free annual membership cards to all Chinese diving team members.Other businesses and donors have come forth offering cash and gifts, including her favourite spicy street snack latiao--made from flour that is cooked and seasoned. Her father has reportedly declined cash gifts, and thanked donors for their "kind hearts".

Throughout Europe golf has been popular for many years.A recent report says that in Great Britain alone,700 new golf courses(球場) will have to be built over the next ten years to meet people's needs.
This is all good news for golf lovers, but it worries those who want to protect the environment.Their argument is that the new courses are disturbing the balance of nature.Woods, ponds and fields are being dug up to make way for the courses. The birds and animals that used to live there are being killed or forced to leave. The amount of water that a club uses to keep its courses in good condition is reducing the amount of water available for industrial and other uses. The chemicals used to control insects are sinking into the underground water.
There may be some truth in this, but it is not the whole truth. The days are long past when building of any kind was allowed in beautiful places with no thought for the environment.Planning permission, nowadays,is as strict for golf courses as it is for any other type of development. Before any such project is given the go-ahead,many things are studied. It is only when it is clear no harm will be done to the area that the builders are allowed to move in.
A strong case can even be made that golf courses are actually good for the areas where they are built.Courses are usually built in the areas which are not areas of natural beauty. The new courses often make the area look livelier. To make holes more difficult, trees are planted and lakes are filled in around greens. Not surprisingly perhaps,it is not unusual to find that, within months of a course being completed,a lot of animals and birds have moved in.
Obviously, careful thought has to go into the design of the new courses. As few changes as possible should be made to the natural environment.Woods and wildlife should be also protected. But this can be,and is being, done. There is no reason why golfers and nature cannot live peacefully together.
(1)What is mainly discussed in Paragraph 2?
A.The rules for playing golf.
B.How to protect the environment.
C.The disadvantages of building golf courses.
D.Whether golf courses should be built or not.
(2)What is TRUE about building a new golf course nowadays?
A.It takes up too much land.
B.A lot of trees have to be cut down.
C.It is easy to get planning permission.
D.Many things will be taken into consideration.
(3)According to Paragraph 4,golf courses
.
A.make local areas look beautiful
B.provide more jobs for local people
C.a(chǎn)re harmful to the local environment
D.waste too much water and money
(4)Which best describes the author's attitude in the text?
A.Uninterested.
B.Worried.
C.Hopeful.

Two young giant-panda twins born in the United States have returned home to China, but are struggling to adapt to the language and food.
The 3-year-old sisters,Mei Lun and Mei Huan, were the first surviving panda twins to be born in the United States, and were returned to China from Zoo Atlanta on Nov.5.But the pair still understand English better than Chinese, and prefer American biscuits to Chinese bread.
A zoo-keeper said that his main concern is that the pair are so addicted to American biscuits that everything they eat-from bamboos to apples-has to be mixed with biscuits. They even want to snack on (零食) biscuits when drinking water.
The zoo-keeper is trying to wean them off their biscuit habit, gradually replacing the American food with Chinese bread.Mei Huan is adapting, but Mei Lun doesn't want to touch the unfamiliar bread.
Mei Lun is the livelier of the two, often jumping onto the roof and hanging upside down from a rail, but her slightly younger sister Mei Huan is calmer, preferring to sit still, observe her new environment and occasionally snack on bamboo.
A language barrier is also reported. While the pair respond to their own names, and understand some English phrases such as"come here,"they don't understand the Sichuan dialect of Chinese.
