Many animals are in danger around the world. Here are some examples. Pangolins (穿山甲) are one of the world's most endangered animals. Most of them live in China,South and Southeast Asia, and Africa. In the late 1990s,the number of pangolins in China was about 60,000.But over the past ten years, their population has fallen by about 90 percent China put a stop to pangolin killings in the wild in 2007.However,people who caught and ate pangolins weren't severely punished (嚴(yán)重懲罰).Traditional Chinese medicine also used pangolins. As a result, the killing of pangolins continued. Now the Chinese government has raised the protection level (級(jí)別) of all pangolins from level two to level one. The blue whale lives in oceans around the world. It is the largest animal in the world, but it feeds on the smallest animals. Some people kill the whales for their meat And the sea water is polluted. There may be only about 3,000 blue whales left. South China tigers live in forests and mountains in South China. The area of their home is becoming smaller for many different reasons,so they have less and less land to live on.South China tigers don't have many babies, and their babies often die.The situation is becoming very serious. Our government is working hard to save South China tigers. It has built three nature reserves (自然保護(hù)區(qū)) to protect South China tigers. |
