       Silk Fabric
       Silk,the favorite fabric of many girls out there,is also a Chinese invention.Although we all know that silk is made by silkworms,it was Chinese people who first invented a way to harvest the silk and then use it to make clothes.The oldest silk which has been found so far is in Henan Province and dates back to 3630 BC.

  • 5.Zhang dingyu,the director of Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital,leads over 600 doctors and nurses fighting against the Novel coronavirus pneumonia (新型冠狀病毒肺炎),which has caused hundreds of deaths in central China's Hubei Province.
       As Zhang led over 600 doctors and nurses fighting the disease,his strange way of walking shocked his colleagues.He finally admitted that he had fallen ill with ALS (漸凍癥)since October 2018 after constant researches.ALS is a disease that gradually blocks the connection between brain and body.People with ALS become partially paralyzed(癱瘓的)leading to respiratory (呼吸系統(tǒng)) failure.
       While working with handicapped (瘸的)legs,his wife was confirmed to get infected with the virus after working in another hospital.The bad news brought him to his knees,and he cried for the first time after the virus broke out.Zhang could only find time to visit his wife until three days after she got admitted to the hospital.Even then he could only stay for 30 minutes.Fortunately,the good news came that his wife had recovered ten days after treatment.
       Zhang,57,has offered medical services along with Chinese medical teams to Algeria and Pakistan.Three days after the earthquake hit central Sichuan Provincein 2008,Zhang entered the city with his medical team members to offer help.

  • 6.Australia's bush fires are threatening the country's unique wildlife -from koalas to native birds to bees -and researchers fear that some species are being pushed to the brink of extinction.The fires have killed at least 26 people,burned thousands of homes and could shave as much as 0.4% of economic growth,according to some experts.
       More than 13,000 head of livestock have been killed by the fires in New South Wales state,where more than 20,000 square miles of land has been burned.The fires threaten to rage on into February-summer - time in Australia -or longer.
       Scientists say at least six species are in danger. "There's great concern that these fires may have pushed species closer to extinction or potentially over," said Deakin University wildlife ecologist Euan Ritchie. "We won't know until we get into the areas," he said.
       Some scientists are concerned about a metallic - green bee that lives exclusively in areas that have been ravaged by fire,along Australia's east coast and on Kangaroo Island in the south.Researchers suspect the green carpenter bee has been wiped out on Kangaroo Island.
       "The species is likely to be in terrible conditions,as all of its habitat has now either burnt or is threatened by fire," said Katja Hogendoorn,a bee expert at the University of Adelaide,who has been working for half a decade to preserve the population of green carpenter bees on Kangaroo Island.
