2.The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge(HZM Bridge)will connect Hong Kong on the east bank of the Pearl River Delta to Zhuhai and Macao on the west bank, based on the planning of the national highway network. It will provide a significant part of the Pearl River Delta regional transportation loop-being a key new highway transport corridor crossing the Lingdingyang and connecting the east and west banks of the Pearl River.
The Pearl River Delta is seen as a pioneering region for China's Reform and Opening-up Policy and an economic center of great importance.Taking advantage of the proximity(鄰近)of Hong Kong and Macao, the Pearl River Delta plays a leading role and has a significant strategic status in China's Reform and Opening-up as well as its economic and social development. The development gap between the east and west coasts of the Pearl River has widened during the recent period of rapid development of the Pearl River Delta, with the economic development of the west coast evidently lagging behind that of the east coast. The lack of convenient transportation with Hong Kong is an important reason.Obstructed(阻隔)by the Pearl River, overland transport has to detour through the Humen Bridge, while the transportation by water takes a lot of time and it is vulnerable to weather conditions. The current transport infrastructure(設(shè)施))cannot meet the demands of the economic and social development and transportation between the east and west banks of the Pearl River.
To sum up,the construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is both essential and urgent in order to coordinate, fully develop and interlink the national comprehensive Transportation expressway network with the networks of Guangdong,Hong Kong and Macao.

A.Il is not convenient to take.

A.The importance of the Pearl River Delta.

3.Before Sydney's 2000 Olympic Games,Eric Moussambani had never set foot outside of his home country, the tiny nation of Equatorial Guinea where most citizens get by on less than one dollar a day.
Having secured his entry into the Games with the help of a wild card,Moussambani set about teaching himself to swim.He had no coach,no lanes, and no ways of tracking his efforts. The only pool available belonged to a local hotel, and they allowed him to use it between 5 and 6 am,just three times a week. Before Sydney he had never set eyes on an Olympic pool, let alone swum in one.
When the day came, the underdog captured the hearts of the Australian audience, and although he flagged in the second half of the race, with commentator Adrian Moorhouse remarking that "this guy doesn't look like he's going to make it",he completed the heat with a time of I minute 53 seconds.
It was the slowest time in Olympic history, but a personal best.
International media named him "Eric the Eel" and he was hailed(贊揚(yáng))as the embodiment of the Olympic ideal that it's not the winning, but the taking part that counts.
When he was interviewed, still dripping from his exhausting feat,Moussambani remarked, "The first 50 metres was OK,but in the second 50 metres I got a bit worried and thought I wasn't going to make it.Then something happened.I thought it was all the people getting behind me.I was really, really proud. It's still a great feeling for me and I loved when everyone applauded me at the end.I felt like I had won a medal or something. "
Moussambani is now the head coach of the Equatorial Guinea swimming squad and thanks to his efforts, the country has since built two 50 m swimming pools.

D.He was the best swimmer in Africa.
(2)What's the international media's attitude towards Moussambani's performance?

9.It was a very cold morning as it had been raining very heavily the previous night. As my mother was feeling a little under the weather,my sister volunteered to drive me to school.I had overslept and as a result, was running a bit late for school. We got into the car hurriedly. The road was already crowded with traffic. It appeared that everyone was late as well.
My sister was a careful driver and despite the fact that I was already late, she refused to drive fast on the slippery road.I was lucky she was such a resolute and careful person because a few hundred meters away from the school,we witnessed a tragic accident. It all happened very quickly,as most accidents do.A car full of school children had made a left turning without signaling and as a result,a school bus crashed into it.A few cars behind the school bus rammed into the bus as they could not brake in time and soon it became a pile-up.The already crowded road became jammed with vehicles that came to a crawl.I told my sister that I wanted to help the victims and she nodded silently. She stopped the car not too far from the accident spot.
The scene that greeted us was something I would never forget. It left an unforgettable memory in my mind to date. The impact of the accident had made the school children seriously injured in the car.The driver,a lady, lay on the steering wheel.I rushed to the children who were preschoolers. Two of them were seriously hurt and bleeding from the heads and hands. They were conscious although too weak to realize what had happened. In the meantime,passers-by had called the ambulance and while waiting we tried as best as possible to help the victims.
